Terms of Service
DollarBox is a trading name of Unicorn Operations Limited, registered in Ireland.
Effective 1 July 2026.
1. The service
DollarBox provides container hosting via Kubernetes namespaces. You can deploy via the control panel or via a namespace-scoped kubeconfig in kubectl mode. All workloads are subject to per-namespace resource quotas matching your subscription. Optional persistent volumes are available as described in our product documentation. We run the infrastructure.
2. Payment
The service is billed via Stripe. All prices are in euro and exclude VAT; VAT is added at the applicable rate and the total including VAT is shown before payment. EU business customers outside Ireland with a valid VAT number are not charged VAT (reverse charge — Article 196, Directive 2006/112/EC).
- Containers: €1.00 per container per month, or €11.00 per container per year on the annual plan (twelve months for the price of eleven), prorated daily.
- Persistent volume capacity: €0.10 per GB per month for a pre-paid pool. You pay for the pool size, not the number of volumes carved from it.
- Snapshot protection: €0.10 per protected source-volume GB per month. Retention length within the supported one-to-seven-day range does not change the price.
- Off-site volume backups: €0.15 per backed-up source-volume GB per month.
Increasing capacity is charged today, prorated for the rest of the billing period. Decreasing container capacity takes effect at your next renewal: you keep the paid capacity until the current billing period (month or year) ends, and there is no refund or credit for unused capacity. Decreasing storage, snapshot, or backup capacity takes effect immediately; there is no refund or credit for the remainder of the billing period. Switching from monthly to annual billing prorates the unused monthly time onto the annual invoice; switching from annual back to monthly mid-term is handled via support. No refunds for partial periods. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use DollarBox to:
- Host illegal content under Irish or EU law
- Send spam or conduct phishing attacks
- Mine cryptocurrency
- Conduct denial-of-service attacks
- Deliberately exhaust shared cluster resources
Violations result in immediate termination without refund. The Acceptable Use Policy expands this section and forms part of these Terms.
4. No SLA
We provide no uptime guarantee. The service is best-effort at this price point. We will try to keep things running. We communicate outages via status.dollarbox.dev.
5. Data durability and backups
You are responsible for maintaining off-site backups appropriate for your workload.
Ephemeral storage (the default disk that comes with a container) is not durable. If your container restarts, you change its image, or you recreate the container, data on that disk is lost.
Persistent volumes (optional block storage from your pre-paid pool) survive restarts and can be detached from one container and attached to another. Deleting an unprotected volume permanently destroys its data.
Volume snapshots are optional, crash-consistent recovery points retained in the same storage cluster. They can recover earlier volume contents, but they are not off-site backups and do not protect against loss of the entire cluster. Restores create a new volume and require sufficient paid capacity.
Off-site volume backups are an optional paid add-on, enabled per volume. Where enabled, we take one backup per night and retain the number of successful nightly backups you choose, from one to thirty. Backups are stored on separate storage hardware from the servers holding your live volume, in the same region. They cover the contents of the volumes you enable them on and nothing else: not the ephemeral container disk, not local-path volumes, not your Kubernetes secrets, configuration or manifests, and not any volume you have not explicitly enabled backups on. Backups are block-level copies taken without quiescing your application, so they recover in the state a power cut would leave.
Restores always create a new volume; we never overwrite the original, and we do not offer in-place restore. A restore is carved from your pre-paid storage pool at the backup's original size and requires enough unused capacity. Restores are self-service through the control panel and the API. We give no restore time guarantee.
Neither persistent volumes nor their backups are encrypted at rest. If your data requires encryption at rest, encrypt it in your application before writing it.
Past due and suspended accounts keep existing backups and continue to be charged for them, but take no new backups until the account is active again. Closing an account deletes its backups. Disabling backups on a volume deletes every backup retained for it.
The add-on does not change the first sentence of this section: you remain responsible for maintaining off-site backups appropriate for your workload.
6. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion, with or without notice.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by Irish law. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
8. Referral programme
You can invite other customers to DollarBox with a referral link from your account. The programme works as follows.
- What you earn. €1.00 of DollarBox account credit — one container-month — for each referral that qualifies.
- What qualifies. The person you refer must sign up through your link, be a new customer, and then have an active account for 30 days and pay €2.00 of eligible usage (net of VAT and of any discount). Both conditions must be met.
- What the person you refer pays. Normal public prices. There is no signup discount and no credit for them.
- Eligibility. Your own account must be active and on standard billing. Comped accounts neither earn nor generate referral credit.
- Cap. Up to 25 referral rewards are credited automatically per account per rolling 12 months. Beyond that, further rewards are held for manual review, and we may decline them.
- Abuse and self-referral. Referring yourself does not earn credit, and neither does referring an account you also control, pay for, or share a payment method with. We may withhold or reverse credit where we believe the programme is being gamed, and we may close the accounts involved.
- Reversal. If a payment that qualified a referral is refunded or disputed, or if we find the referral was fraudulent, we may reverse the credit by posting an offsetting charge to your account.
- The credit itself. Referral credit is applied against future DollarBox invoices only. It has no cash value, is not transferable, and is not refundable or exchangeable for money. It does not expire while your account is open; closing your account forfeits any unused credit.
- Changes. We may change or end the referral programme at any time. Referrals that have already qualified when we do are still honoured.
We never tell you who signed up through your link. Your referrals page shows only the status of each referral and its dates.
